BIO

After a trip to Morocco, Philippe Jacquot and Laurent Dafurio, two musical friends, decided to design a demo with Maghreb rhythms. During their work, they meet the American Earl Talbot, who owns a studio and a music school in Chicago, and he joined the group. For the singer of the band, Jacquot and Dafurio are looking for someone sufficiently exotic to justify the name “Nomads”. Through journalist Tewfik Hakem, they attended a concert of Arab-Andalusian music by Algerian singer Ahmed “Hamidou” Takdjout. At the end of the concert, they told him about their project and he agreed to participate in the adventure. Once the demo was finished, their manager sends it to different producers. Many accept but they choose the label “Une Musique” because it is the production company of TF1, one of the largest European channels. On their first and only album, “Better World”, consisting of twelve tracks, the song “Yakalelo” was released as a single and became the hit of the summer in 1998.
