From a young age, Milla was drawn to the music. Born in Ukraine, she completed her musical education focused on piano, but her true dream was always to sing and perform. That inner calling shaped her path in music. After moving to Berlin, Milla joined the pop band Cherona, signed by Sony Music. The group quickly made waves in the German pop scene with vibrant singles like “Ching Chang Chong” — which peaked at #15 on the German Top 100 charts — and “Rigga-Ding-Dong-Song.” Their debut album, Sound of Cherona, brought mainstream success and led to a nomination for the prestigious ECHO Awards, Germany’s top music honor. In 2010, Milla moved to Canada, where she became founder, lead singer, and songwriter of the Ukrainian folk-rock band Zapovid. With its bold fusion of cultural tradition and modern rock, the band built a passionate following. They released: Dity rodu kozatskoho (2015), Radiohvyli (2019), Carpe Diem (EP) (2021). Zapovid toured across Canada, the U.S., and Australia, performing on major stages and connecting with multicultural and Ukrainian diaspora audiences. In 2021, after the pandemic shifted perspectives, Milla chose to step away from the band. She felt her creative path was leading in a new direction — one calling for more personal expression and artistic freedom. Now pursuing a solo career, Milla channels her experience, emotion, and voice into music that’s true to who she is — blending vulnerability and power to tell stories that resonate on a human level.
