VÏKÆ [Vee-Kay] is a Ukrainian (New Zealand based) artist, singer/songwriter and classically trained musician. Graduating with an Hons degree in music from The University of Otago displayed her affinity with the performing arts. VÏKÆ’s compelling style of songwriting intertwines with brooding cinematic soundscapes, pulsating rhythms and delicious bass lines. VÏKÆ released 'FINELINES' in 2020 which featured on The NZ music Charts debuting at #5: an impressive feat for a new artist. The following few years saw VÏKÆ regularly tour the country and perform at club shows and festivals such as; Baydreams, Mardi Gras, Deep Hard'n' Funky, Summer Sounds, AUM NYE and Soundsplash (to name a few) solidifying her performance prowess. Partnering with long-term collaborator Abigail Knudson (<a href="spotify:artist:3Fwrv2f2K0AxSDCrS8qZhD" data-name="MISSY">MISSY</a>) and Will Henderson (<a href="spotify:artist:4k3yrCOPB5wp2ne8R9MQoM" data-name="Janine">Janine</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0aE69mf1NjsaqZzXsoo4qH" data-name="Abby Christo">Abby Christo</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5QYfFIxVcsJtK600MxqtpF" data-name="CHAII">CHAII</a>) 2023 was the birth of Love Games Deluxe: a comprehensive and ambitious mixtape spanning a myriad of genres including a re-release of a collaboration with <a href="spotify:artist:4ohC67TQuhtpWYNtcUgrYZ" data-name="Mazbou Q">Mazbou Q</a>. Praised for her vulnerability within her songwriting (MMF, 13th Floor and Women's Weekly), she writes poetry which she uses as inspiration. Now, VÏKÆ is focussing on writing music in her native languages of Russian, English and Ukrainian as she takes influences from traditional Ukrainian music. Inspired by artists <a href="spotify:artist:2MVGuFg7kJgmXC2RkpJxz6" data-name="ONUKA">ONUKA</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5rZcCYFGSeRDMOQcP7S5vn" data-name="ETOLUBOV">ETOLUBOV</a>, 2024 is a bold dive into a new realm of artistry where she proudly wears her Ukrainian heart on her sleeve; certainly proving she is one to watch.
