BIO

«Malenkyi khor Vasyliia Velykoho» («The Small Choir of Basil the Great») is a chamber a cappella ensemble founded in 2011 on the basis of the Church of Saint Basil the Great UGCC’ parishioners in Kyiv, Ukraine. The collective's repertoire is entirely based on the arrangements of classical and rare compositions of Ukrainian church, folk and modern music. The first ensemble’s album "Misto medu" was released in 2018. The first single in the new style of the team's work was released in 2020. Since then, all subsequent releases have been recorded in studio, not choir acoustics. Ukrainian carols in a completely new form, like “Oi, syvaia taia zozulenka” and “Shche, Shchedryk”, make up a large part of the collective's subsequent releases. The cover on the well-known gospel song "Oceans" by the Australian worship collective "Hillsong" was released as a single “Okeany”in ukrainian translation and own arrangement at the end of 2020. A year later the track became a part of the large album "Nash choven", which contains 11 tracks. It combines the music of four different confessional directions of Christianity and becomes a symbol of ecumenism. The official web-site of the band: https://alittlechoir.kyiv.ua
