äsc3ea {es 'tse: a} Emma Hamza Grünwald is an audiovisual artist and musician, currently based in Kyiv, Ukraine (born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1994). Emma writes music under the alias "äsc3ea" and creates visuals, combining such media as generative art, AI, design, video, and photography. She creates works analyzing and reflecting on topics in the field of psychological science and neurobiology such as mental health, cognitive dissonance, and sleeping disorders. While creating music she is searching for some warm analog sound, which takes you back to childhood, and creates a naïve comfort sensation. At the same time, she mixes it with the glitchy, warped, detuned sound that tends to confuse you and creates some dissonance. The aim is to uncover the contrast between the comforting sensation of naïve childhood memories and the glitchy, distorted, out-of-tune, messed up, dissonance reality that we experience nowadays. Emma is also a resident of Carbon formation, PHOTINUS Studio, and a part of @_mediaklub group since 2020.
